MOUNT CARELTON TRAIL

Overview

Embark on the Mount Carleton Trail, a challenging yet rewarding journey to the highest peak in the Maritime Provinces. Starting from the eastern loop, the trail winds through dense hardwood forests, crosses serene streams, and climbs rugged ridges. As you ascend, the canopy thins and wide open views stretch across New Brunswick’s untouched wilderness.

The trail tops out at the historic fire tower on Mount Carleton, standing proud at 820 meters. From here, you get a full 360 view forests, lakes, and endless sky. Take your time at the summit. Snap the photos. Breathe it in.

On the way down, the trail flows into an old gravel road through the forest, echoing the footsteps of fire watchers from the early 1900s. About a third of the way down, you’ll spot an old cabin once used by those same watchmen. It’s a trail that feels timeless.
